International Academy of Integral Dentistry

 

The International Academy of Integral Dentistry was founded on July 24, 1992 by Dr. Mariano Flores Rubio together with doctors: Rafael Roca Hillman (Bolivia), Washington Casablanca (Peru), Emilio Kegler Schukovsky (Paraguay), Oscar Ramírez (USA). ), Esther Flores (Peru), Julio Pertuiset (Chile) and Michael Onstag (USA), in the City of Lima-Peru, with the participation of 6 countries: Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, the United States and Peru and the intention Initially, it was to associate Multi-disciplinary Dental Clinics to exchange scholarship dentists, in order to carry out internships in the mentioned countries, so that they are technically and clinically prepared in the main dental specialties.

What happened, almost immediately, is that the first courses were organized for the scientific preparation not only of the interns, but also of groups of general practice dentists who wanted to train in different dental disciplines.

With this criterion, the idea of converting the general practice dentist into a multi-disciplinary specialist who is capable of treating and solving most of the problems presented by patients and only referring highly complex cases to specialists was born.

The main problem is that 80% of the world population does not have the economic capacity to cover the fees of teams of specialists to solve their problems, so they undergo a practice where extractions and removable partial or total dentures predominate, in instead of conservative treatment.

Unfortunately, this reduced practice is evolving into a progressive deterioration because the competition forces us to charge the lowest possible fees, resulting in the frustration of patients who end up being treated only for emergency treatments, and of dentists who do not apply in their practice or 10% of the academic preparation received.

Taking these considerations into account, a profile of the comprehensive dentist was created, which is updated every year, so that teams of professionals have been formed in different countries, who have been trained as multi-disciplinary specialists.

The idea prospered quickly and international events were held in all the mentioned countries, with the existence of increasingly important groups of foreign professionals, beginning to join the Institution in almost all the countries of America, as well as Europe, Africa and Asia.

The institution has 39 affiliates in the world and has developed various events, congresses, seminars, specialization courses in various countries.
